Thanks Ray - what exactly are drag pipes - I thought they were straight through pipes with no baffles - On the websites selling my exhaust (Arlen Ness Smoothness) they are advertised as drag pipes but I do have some sort of baffle in mine - kind of like a steel mesh type set up - perhaps they were added by the previous owner - I don't seem to have a problem with mid range power but then I've nothing to compare it to

Haze - I've been in touch with Bob at Triple X and he says he uses a 78 main jet which is basically what you get in a stock G - as I said earlier that is what I have so again I'm wondering if your rmain jet at 72 is too small

Ok...

set my carb back to original settings and so far so good. The accelerator pump I left at 2 turns out and the mixture is at about 1 3/4's the idle though I had to turn in about 2 1/4 times to get it idle at just over 1000rpms...but the bike ran great.

Now for the issues. I also cleaned out my gas cap and changed out my fuel line, i had this crappy cheepy fuel filter on it and the lines were WAY to big for the ends, so I got rid of it all together.

I rode for about 1 hour and half today with no problems, then all of a sudden the bikes RPM's drop to about 700 I give it gas and nothing and it dies. I crank it up right away and the RPMS are still under 1000. I give it gas roll into a gas station and rais the idle back to over 1000. Problem fixed. I start riding home and every time I hit 3000rpms the bike jumps like its starving. Did it about 4-5 times. I was a block from a friends house. Pulled in, and let the bike cool off for about 20 minutes and rode home. Then again, riding home the RPM's dropped and the bike died, but it cranked right up and this time at 3000 RPMs there were no issues. I was riding for a good while with no issues....I have no idea what caused it to change?
