New E-3 spark plug

Mike, everyone is entitled to their opinion and if they worked for you great. I tried the E3's in Daytona since Pepboys only had them in stock and had the opposite effect as you described, they fouled after 50 miles, cleaned up my old Champions and re-installed and never had an issue for the season. Many of my friends have tried the E3's in their bikes with similar disappointing results. I base my opinion on personal experiences and comments from others who have used them.
Well, you are assuming the engineers made the decision and that is unlikely in reality. Marketing and other concerns affect the recommendations/installations much more very often especially with a mostly standardized part. Deals made with manufacturers by management is very often a much bigger influence. Cost of all the plugs they buy etc.
Secondly, you have a higher opinion of engineers than I do. Having worked with quite a few over the years and being taught by many while AI was in school, I can tell you that I have proved a number of them wrong on things in their field on enough occasions that I don't blindly trust their advice if I have experienced something else. Next time I see you I'll tell you about several engineers that I made look foolish or worse in years gone by.
These plugs have a good track record with people I know that have them, most often in EFI bikes. I'm not sure I know anyone using them in a carb bike and that well could make a difference.

Regardless, whenever I travel I carry some sort of spare set of plugs with me -- usually extra E3's but have been known to carry 810's as spares.

The last set of iridiums I used was in my old 918ST with a rev tech 100" --- they failed pretty quick -- the damn tips broke off -- but that bike did shake a bit!

Mike, I dion't use Champion because the engineers say they are best. I use them because of reliability that I have experienced. If you have had luck with E3's thats great, I have not had the same experience when I tried them, and neither have a number of my buddies. Everyone has opinions on what consumables are best, they are only opinions.
Doesn't sound as though you like engineers much either, it's a shame. BTW I'm a structural engineer.

Doug, I have several good friends that are engineers but just because someone is an engineer doesn't elevate their status in my mind, my apologies if you got the wrong idea from my post. -- The engineer spec'ing them response was directly mostly towards Shannon, not you.
Yes, I agree use what works for you, as do I. I responded because they were referred to as "gimmick plugs" and I don't find it to be a gimmick -- I personally find it to be a viable alternative and preference for my situation, that's all.

I am curious though, are all the bikes you tried them on (you and your friends) carb?

All good Mike, no profession or career elevates a person above another, we are all equally as important in the wheel of life.
To answer your question, my bike is carb, my 3 buddies all have fuel injected.
Happy and safe Thanksgiving Mike..
