Passenger gel seat mod

Hey all. I have a very thin friend that told me the passenger seat hurts her butt. So I mod one of my two identical pillions.
1) remove leather and foam.
2) cut 6x9 hole in center of oem seat. Top of seat foam is a bit wider and longer than bottom. I left oem foam on sides to hold the shape of the seat.
3) cleaned it up and set on top of gel car seat to make cut lines.
4) cut car gel seat, $20 at wally or online.
5) the gel seat is 1/2" thicker than oem seat. I made all rough cuts with a steak knife and finish cuts with hacksaw blade (no handle). Cut gel seat, then sliced off 1/4" from bottom. This results in the gel piece stick up 1/4" above oem seat. Used standard Elmers blue gel glue. Tip: I placed a 1/4" thick piece of wood on one side and drew a horizontal line on gel seat. Spun seat so line faced me and used the line as guide on my side and top of 1/4" wood as guide on other side.
6) had seat skinned at Sargents in Jacksonville, FL ($128). I used them 11 years ago with my driver seat, and still looks like new.

Her butt is so happy the crack turned sideways and looks like a real smile now! Any questions, just ask.

Awesome job, how does your friend like it?? Another useful tip: when cutting foam for a seat project use an electric Turkey knife, cuts like a razor if its sharp and you don't end up pushing and pulling your foam as you cut because of the two oscillating blades.

Oh, she loves it. She has 16% BMI so theres no fat back there to cushion her. We havent done a few hundred mile ride yet, but I think she'll be ok. Thanks for asking.
