Starting problems and stalling problems while driving...2004 Mastiff

had battery tested...tested fine...12.8V and really strong charge...went to strokers and explained my situation to them....sounds like EHC since my starter contacts are clean....they said 500-600 for the part (does that sound right??) plus labor (said 1/2 hour labor...betting i will get charged for a full hour)...anyway, about a week wait to get the bike in there (they are really backed up), PLUS they dont even have any EHC's in stock right now...maybe not till mid week :(

take a medium gauge wire and touch the wire to the positive battery post, then touch the other end to the relay plug (not sure that is the right technical term) it has a green wire plugged into it, take the green wire loose and touch the wire to the relay on top of the starter. MAKE SURE IN NEUTRAL!

Anyone else have any ideas...my opinion is the ehc.....

called strokers in dallas today (which is where bike is at)...they are working on it and good news is that the EHC checked out ok. bad news, they have yet to pinpoint what is wrong with the bike yet. : (

I have a '04 Mastiff and just replaced the EHC with the upgrade. The bike has stop all it's strange electrical issues since the conversion. One thing you may want to check is the wiring harness under the rear fender. There's not much room between the tire and the fender and if the tire has rubbed the wire the bike will do some strange things as far as stalling and starting. Just a thought.

thanx. strokers called back and said they replaced the starter and pcb board for the switches which was shorting. EHC checked out fine they said and bike is firing up evey time and not dying at all. so gonna go pick her up tonight and drop a nice chunk of $$$$..:(

Nelson, did big dog replace your EHC for you? I'm trying to get mine replaced now...but customer support is trying to say i have to buy it on my own...which i don't think is right....

still not 100% sure that's my problem.

how did you figure out it was your EHC after all your trial and error?
Nope ... totally out of warranty ... out of my pocket. We thought it was the EHC when the high beam stopped working. Eliminated all other possibles before dropping the f-bomb and saying "that's gotta be it".

Runs pretty good right now. Have an issue with the alarm, but Strokers is going to fix that this weekend.
