I hook it up at the carb first and then put the ferrules in the grip. can be a pita

You have the wrong cables. S&S use different cables than HD. Sounds like you have harley cables. They have less cable travel that S&S. I tried putting them on my Mastiff one hot afternoon in a parking lot and had the same problem.

gasman ............ i feel defeated, but, lets here it. if its something "simple", i'd like to try and do it. (right now i kinda feel like someone kicked my dog.)

texasdog ............ your the first person thats said that, its what i've been thinking all along. so what did you do? :confused:

i called s&s and we discovered i have the taller guide/bracket (on the carb)....... if i switch to the shorter one, an inch shorter, that would prob fix it. this sounds like it would fix it, but i wont be able to look at it till i get home. thinking about it, it sure sounds like my problem. GASMAN, looking at your pics above, my bracket/guide is definetly longer than the one in your pic!!! moving the guide an inch away (higher) from the butterfly, is my difference.

GASMAN, lets talk about this brake light thing i broke......

I purchased a Mikuni and was told that my stock cables should fit. Well they are too short. Now I'm looking around to see what I need.
