Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to put in the wire plus, I am pretty mechanical and was wondering what the level of difficulty was from a level of 1 too 10?:bang:

I'd say it was a 10.... it it werent for the great support of Jake and his instructions!

With that it's easy! 3 at worst with that! :)

I'll let you know next week. I'm going to do mine this weekend, possible Monday... right before I leave for Sturgis.

Reading the thread, it really doesn't look hard at all.

I just got finished changing my scoot to a wires plus kit. There is alot of connections that have to be made so TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!. But as far as the difficulty level it's not that bad I would say a 5 but give it a shot you'll be fine. And if you run into a problem Jake will help ya through it. Good luck:up:

I did it on my '05 Chopper, and it was pretty easy... say around a 3 out of 10 rating.

Mostly it's just tedious, especially if you take your time, and quadruple check each wire prior to cutting it and inserting it into the pin, then into the new connector. The instructions are VERY clear and straight forward, and as others have said, Jake is great for getting any questions answered.

Once mine was done, I turned the key and everything worked perfectly the first time!

The only thing I would do different is get a REALLY good pair of crimpers. The cheap ones work OK, but I'd serious consider renting a good pair just to get it done more perfectly.

Has anyone considered not cutting all the wires on the harness and simply wiring the new duetsch plugs to the appropriate connectors so that its plug and play; ie make an adapter harness?

Has anyone else out there done a fuel injected bike yet -- Does everything work? low fuel etc

That's a damn fine idear. Wonder if there is enough room for the extra duetsch plugs to squeeze in under the seat? If the time comes, I believe I'll check into going this route. But then again, once the Wire Plus is installed, there shouldn't be a reason to have to remove it and go back to the EHC.

from start to finish , removal of old stuff, ignition switch change and install. HELL YES.

i guess you could half ass it in half the time.

Agree, I had probably 12 hours over 3 days, I paced myself!

AND go buy a good set of Klein crimpers! There like 25 bucks! Your working on a 20K+ bike.

I don't think I saw what year bike he had.
The older ones, its a snap if you can stuff 5 lbs of crap in a 1 lb bag.
The newer one's more involved.

I just finished my install on my 07 K9. Take your time, wire by wire, and follow the instructions on this site closely. Feels good to be rid of the EHC. Good luck.

I thought of and even had an adapter harness built for a plug and play to thunder heart, (WP is not much different and would not have taken much more time). I decided not to release it for a couple reasons. 1. the stock connector is not sealed when you mate them. You could epoxy, wrap it or find some othe way to seal it but coupled with problem #2 it does not make it worth it. 2. By the time you buy mating connector, pins and back shell you would have another $125 or more into a retro kit.

Part of the appeal of a change to Thunder heart or WP is to get rid of those connectors and moving to a nice automotive grade sealed connector.

I have rewired a EFI bike with a Thunder Heart. If you want a safety tilt sensor you need to wire it in separtate, I also built a circuit and added a box for low fuel light.

I just cant see it taking 8-12 hours to wire it up, maybe it does. Ive replaced a wiring harness on a car in that length of time.
