Where Has Sugar Bear Gone With My Money?

I'm 2400 miles away in North Carolina. Not real handy to confront him in person. Covid was a big problem for him along with not being able to get american certified steel. And he was messed up for almost a year with a shoulder injury. All that being said there's no reason now not get everyone that had an order completed. I know there's been fires and floods out there recently where he's at and for me no way whatsoever to know if or how he's doing. I would drive a few hours to actually see him if I was that close, but not from NC. I never rushed him either. Last time we talked he said you will get yours in the order I received the orders - You have my word on it. I still believe the guy

If he has money for Stugis he has the money to give everyone back there money... no excuse for 5 years...he has no intention in building no one nothing or he would have done it or sent money back... he would have alot more health issues if it was my money but that's just me...

Seems like we read dozer’s post wrong and thought he was concerned about his frame and forks he ordered 5 years ago and paid 4k on but he obviously isn’t. He was just commenting about not getting his stuff either. Well good luck to ya but I can assure you I wouldn’t wait that long for a frame and or forks or anything else. Beat of luck and hope you one day get your stuff.

I have to say something that some of you probably won’t like. Sorry if I offend anyone but the truth isn’t always nice. I call bullshit. This guy dozersticks finds a post about sugerbear on a google search. Joins the forum to revisit a forgotten post and say how much he trusts and respects sugarbears word. And that he gave him 4k nearly 5 years ago And is just fine waiting an indefinite amount of time for his stuff. I call bullshit. Either it’s sugarbear doing damage control or his biggest fan. Either way. It’s bullshit.

It is Bullshit - You don't offend me, I don't even know you or owe you a dime. Never met Sugarbear, probably never will. I made a comment here to say I'm waiting also. Yes the money is important to me but I want the parts. I built a shovelhead, 4 speed, magneto, kicker, open belt drive to put in that frame with the Sugarbear front end. Which to me is the only real American chopper front end there is out there. I don't want a Japanese Showa wanna be front end on my bike. Yes my daily rider has that - Don't want that on the one I'm building.

Well I can see Snuffys point kinda. The entire story is crazy as fuk to me. I blow a head gasket if I have to wait 4 weeks let alone 4 years for a part of any kind. It happens I get it. But that’s alot of cash to basically just write off… I think like Knothead. I’m taking bail money with me and Sugarbear is gonna settle up. One way or another.

I liked the look of Sugar Bears front-ends the best, and I was patient because I knew he had a backlog, he was an older guy, and was custom making one for my K-9.. not just grabbing something off the shelf. It’s like having a piece of art commissioned instead of buy a cheaper reproduction which would always make me feel like I had a knockoff.

I don’t know, it’s like the difference between getting a real Evel Knievel autograph, or just having a computer print-out autograph.

A purchase contract is always a good idea on goods or services over $1,000, no matter how cool they are!

A legal purchase contract, also known as a purchase agreement or sales and purchase agreement (SPA), includes the following information:

  • Parties: The full names and contact information of the buyer and seller

  • Property: A description of the property, goods, or services

  • Price: The agreed-upon purchase price, including any deposits or other costs

  • Payment: The type of payment, payment schedule, and down payment amount

  • Timeline: The proposed completion date and any contingencies

  • Financing: How the buyer will pay for the goods, services, or property

  • Disclosures: Any disclosures or representations made by the seller about the goods, services, or property

  • Warranties: Any warranties or return policies

  • Dispute resolution: How any disputes will be resolved

  • Signatures: Signatures from all parties involved in the transaction
If the seller doesn't have one to provide, you can easily download a generic contract from the internet.

I recently hired an unlicensed contractor to re-tile the roof on my house. He was recommended by other homeowners in my neighborhood.
He didn't have any type of purchase agreement so I printed one out, filled in the blanks, and we both signed.
Everything worked out fine, but in the event that it hadn't I had viable legal recourse.

So, how would that apply to this situation, if I had one?

I’d still end up taking him to court, right? I think 5 years is outside the expected delivery date.. form or no form.
If it were me, I would consult with an attorney.
An attorney can advise what recourse you have based on the details of your situation.
Based on my personal experience, sometimes just a certified letter from an attorney can spur the other party to act.

I think we all know what it's like to have 'bucket list' anything; bike, car, pickup, semi, whatever. For 'Dozersticks' it's having a Sugar Bear frame and front end to house his already built Shovel(Sweet build!) and old school jockey shift, kick only, 4 speed trans.

I've known Dozersticks since we were both single digit in age and everything, I mean everything, that he builds is First Rate!!

I sure hope that Sugar Bear comes through with the frame and front end so the bucket list bike can be completed. We are hoping that he's(Sugar Bear) doing okay and will possibly have somebody in his circles that sees this.

Time is ticking by, DozerSticks is now retired and has the time to do this build!!
