Sissy bar hole question

I took my sissy bar off of my bike the other day, and I was wondering if there was some kind of insert/cover, to cover up the hole where the sissy bars were screwed into? It would look nice if there was a chrome insert to cover the holes. I was thinking that it would help to keep water from getting in there, and rusting the threads. what does everyone else do when you take the sissy bars off?

They are available from your dealer or just let Vicki know and she can get them for you.

Well they made them for the later K9's....

I ordered a set of the tabs for the K9 and they fit ok...

They would look better on your struts I'm sure... Yours probably have a curve in the struts to help it sit better. There is also a pin in the bottom that is suppose to drop in to not spin when tightening. If you don't have the holes you could drill them in. I did not and it still works ok.

Hey Gas, that is strange, I have a set of those plugs as well for my 06 Chopper but I had to get spacers to put under them or they were countersunk into the strut. With the spacer they fit awesome and are flush with the top of the struts.

I think I detect another spot where bdmridgeback could come up with another "spike' goodie!!

Hey Cav, if you come up with something how about something without the spikes.

It's bad enough warding off the shoe spikes let alone having them all over the bike! :whoop:

Spikes back there might be a little dangerous for the passenger...

Although I could use sumin to keep the OL's boots off my pipes

I am thinking ejector button ?
might have problems getting DOT approval though...

It probably wouldnt pay to make plain ones you could just get them from BD. The ones that came with my 07 struts are flush fit when the sissy bar isnt attached.

I'd take some of the spike ones....speaking of...I need to visit the site and order my tire beads and the cam cover!

What would be nice are some quick in/out plugs...turning the bolts in on both sides takes FOREVER! Could you guys make something that's a 3/4 turn lock or something??

Pro, what the hell is the animal in your Avatar doing? No matter how long I look at it, or put on my glasses, I still cant figure out what that deer or elk or dog with antlers is doing. It kinda looks like he's caught in his own antlers, but its too small for me to see.

Looks like he is scratching his nuts to me!?

Anyway, I am working on a couple designs for the plugs. For sure some spiked ones and probably some flush ones or something. I would like to come up with a slotted quarter turn set or some with o rings on them to hold them in instead of tightening down the set screw every time.
I be workin' on it! Oh and we pretty much have the 41mm snap on brake line clamps about ready to ship.

if you dont want spikes, what are you thinkin instead??? just smooth???
Well BDM make the simple flat ones and you make a lot of spike stuff that I'm not into.

But to keep it simple how about something that looks like the top of a "Rook" chess piece. Or button/mushroom head. Or a crown.

Would be inverted with the cutouts in them! :D

Thanks,
Ray

Mine have spacers in the struts too... to get them close to level.

I would be all over another option... a spiked option would rock!!!
