Here is a diagram I found on the web. Better one in the manual. But the tank feeds the pump, the pump circulates it around the motor and back them it pumps it to the filter. From the filter it is returned to the tank that is vented and has nothing to do with the feed line side. Now if you were to interrupt flow to the "feed line" side of the pump then yes you could loose suction.

Any other thoughts on this?

I'm with Rowdy, when's the knee bone connected to the thigh bone? Gas, I need to make an appointment. :D

Seatmaker, I barely can wash my dishes in the dishwasher, much less do all this fancy stuff with/to my bike. And, whats your turn around for a seat, if I send it to ya? approximately?

Depending on what you want, just a few days. Embroidery, colored leather, etc. takes a little longer. PM me with what you're looking for.

Thats the part I was describing earlier. Got it at the HD dealer.

Thanks BDM for posting it.

Just start the motor without the filter and let it drain till it come out clear then add the filter and some more oil to the tank and your done with a little wipe up with a paper towel.

OLD DOG
DON,T RUN THESE ENGINE WITH NO OIL IN TANK ?TO PUMPS!!!!!!!!
drain the tank then hot the normal way,
put a peace of plastic /paper sheet under filter and remove.
The hose from the filter to the tank has a shot glass amount of oil in it.
if you have a bd. oil cooler, [and guys these engines need one] blow low pressure air into center of oil filter "threaded part" air will push out old oil into oil tank where it will drain out.
syn. oil in the engine is the only way to go, ok in primery too, put 70/90 syn in trans [don,t use 20w50syn] shifting will be terible. ian
