Dead Stroke

Looking for membership advice please;
Here is the back ground : My 05 chopper had 2000 miles on it and I just took it in for all the Service Bulletin and recall work which none was ever done.
The dealer says by the way your clutch has known issues and in addition WE got BDM to pay for tear apart and replace shaft,cone washer and new spring with all associated o-rings. ( this included new oils for primary and tranny.) Great I'm happy
Here is my problem; I now see a spot or two of oil that has dripped on my garage floor after each time I ride it for an hour or more which I did not have before. (I do acknowledge that I previously noticed the under and back side of the starter was damp with oil residue. but not enough for dripping on the floor.)
I called the dealer and he said; "yes we noticed your starter was damp and those 05's had known issues of the starter having an incorrect finish on the shaft and oil leaks by and into the starter. BDM won't pay for it because your out of warranty. You have to by a new starter . your looking at $ 450. you better get it replaced or you'll get stranded."
I also know that I saw two different oils on the floor one was motor oil and one was gear oil. you can see and smell the difference.
Any suggestions; especially on the motor oil leakage. Is this true you really have to replace the starter with a new one to fix this oil leak if it is in deed coming from the starter.
thx
