The push rods roll like they're straight. Certainly nothing obvious! I'll check into getting the SSW+ manual. The last time I took my bike to the shop, it was for a broken valve that had fallen into the cylinder and raised hell. I bought all the parts off ebay (a whole upper end) and still paid close to $800 for labor and gaskets. That's that last good screwing I got and hopefully the last.
I have the manual and can scan any pages you may need. You may beat me putting yours back together. I'm supposed to have my cylinders and pistons back tomorrow. Had to wait on rings, seems not to many shops carry 4 1/4" rings!!

Thanks Ray. I guess head and rocker box assembly and torque specs would be a good start. Also, does it state when to use blue or red locktite on the bolts? I read somewhere that has that. May have been the manual or something off this site. Did you bore your cylinders out to 4.25? If so, what does that make it now? I hope you get it all back together for some slow, break-in riding for memorial weekend. Thanks again for the S&S pages. Just email me. Later.

That's all in the manual. I'll email it to you. Do you still have the TP tops or did you switch to S&S? I have the assembly instructions for the TP's also.

I still have the TP Rocker Boxes. Wish I didn't but I do. I didn't see anything that looked as if the valves were wearing the guides at an angle or anything. The BDM manual has some information on it but if you have something from TP, I'll take it. Thanks again. :D

Dennis, I appreciate your faith in me to "check the rest". but what exactly are you talking about? The cam and connecting rod?
That's it! Sounds like your rods are in good shape and the only other "things" I was talking about was what Ray mentioned, the cam.
I'm doing good to get this motor back together without having to IM Dead asking "what is this and where does it go?". I'm not to proud. I'll ask 'em before I fuck up my bike.
Ask him! Then maybe he'll be too busy to argue with me!!!:D
I"ll ask any of you before I screw up my ride.
:2thumbs:
To take my bike to the "Stealership", I would have paid several hundred dollars and been without my bike for a week or two.
And you'd have no guarantee the mechanic really had a clue either! There's nothing better than the feeling you get from fixing your own stuff!
I learn a lot from you guys.
And I hope you don't think the info is FREE!!! We'll be expecting input from you when we ask about something you have the answer to!!!

I have the strangest shit happen to my bike, so my answers my sound a little far fetched, but rest assured, they come from experience. Have you ever heard of a valve breaking mid stem and falling into the cylinder? Ruined the whole upper end, head, piston and jug. Now this, a bolt coming out of the rocker box and jamming down into the valve spring. If nothing else, I bring variety to the forum! :D

Thanks Ray, looking at the procedure for installation, I don't see where you install the "O" ring in the top of the chimney (the stack that surrounds the decompression valve in the center of the rocker box. There is an O ring in the top of that chimney, right? I ordered the set, so I hope one comes with it.:confused:
That may be part of the S&S instructions but yes. I have my package of gaskets downstairs and I'm sure there are new ones in there.

Good night everyone. Great job today!! Thanks for all your help! Let's do it again tomorrow! I feel more like I do now than I did a minute ago. Just something to think about. Later!

I wish I had more money.
I have a question. Is this the same cylender that you just had the broken valve in? And did you repare the valve yourself?
