2007 K-9 just installed new chrome XXX carb,Beautiful piece of work,Thanks Bob Maltz.
When you go full throttle the return cable pops off inside the throttle grip.I have taken this apart 6 times reset cables with slight freeplay
per Big Dog manual,if I dont hit full throttle the cable will stay in place.I have adjusted them evenly and then alittle tighter no results.I did not have this problem before carb change.
If anybody has had this problem or has some advice please post.

Thanks,Kurt.

Has to be a problem with the slack in the cables. Those little ferrels only pop off when you have too much slack in there.

I like to loosen up the adjusters then tighten up the pull cable first till it has no slack in it then loosen it just a bit.
Then do the same with the return cable.

I would suggest while you have it apart to grease the throttle sleeve on the bar and lube the cables.

Hope this helps

Make sure you have the proper cable catch on the carb

One is higher than the other. also make sure you have the spring in there.

This same problem occurs with my Mutt. The brass fitting was bent but easily trued with pliers. After the problem kept occuring I sent it to the shop and they stated they fixed it. Their fix was a zip tie around both cables so that the return didn't fall out of the grip. I am open to any other fixes.

Ray I took your advise and tightened the pull cable first good and tight. Then tightened the return cable till the throttle locked, then backed off return cable a little till throttle was free.Twisted throttle 30 times hard and quick and it seems to be holding.I will take it out tomorrow night and recheck it. Man what a very sensitive adjustment. Thanks guys...

I like to get both cables even length. Look at the adjustment threads, they should be close to identical.
