Same thing happened to my K9...check the bolts on the pulley...3 of mine were slightly loose...just enough the make the belt touch my tire when on the throttle.

Im sorta curiuos what brand tire you got cause Avons tend to be a lttle narrower than most if you look at a 280 Metzler it haint much smaller than a 300 Avon, but it could be alinement if the guy that changed the tire had any reason to mess with the axle adjusters

the tire is a dunlop E3 just before i got the bike he (last owner) had clutch, clutch cable back tire and drive belt put on . i got bike the charging system was not working and speedo was out i put stator and new rotor on.

Well that might explain some of your issues as you gotta pull the swing arm to change the belts so he might have loosend the axle adjusteres if he had the work done at a tipical dont no shit shop and I will bet you the Dunlops as dunlop tires do is a smidgen wider than an Avon first jack up the bike and see wear the belt tracks on the pulley he mite have the axle adjusters off, everbody has there own way of doing things but what I do is lift the bike get my tention close and center the belt on the pully if it still rubs you got to choices either replace the tire with the right brand or look at Vulcan works as the make a spacer to move the pulley out I figured this out cause I got a Deuce and put a wider rear tire on it worked and have had no issues.......but thats just my opionion
