so I had buy a new headlight cuz the lens cracked and im just gettin to fixin it and when I pt the volt meter on I found 8.91v with the key off??? is this normal I have allways used 55/60w bulbs I havent gont thru and checked the wires all the way but they look good in the bucket and below to the tank

dats wat im thinkin also!!!!! so wat im tryin to figure out is wat gives it power and why is it when the key is off

You may want to put a good shot of di-electric grease in your EHC connection. It's possible that moisture may be causing the power to jump over. I've been through rain before and after parking the bike, key off and out, the lights start flashing off and on. So it's possible you're having a similar issue.

well it was the yellow and black, but when I put the plug on the bulb the meter would read 0 so I put it back togather and I went to turn it over and the battery fried!!! shit maybe that was the prob????? I willl get a new batt and report back thanks for the help so far!!!

ok gots a new batt and at the plug I have 8.91v with the key off???? when I plug in the light the voltage goes to 0. so I took it for a ride and the first time I hit the gs it blew the low beam!!! ammit jim!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a diagram, but have you tried checking the voltage for the light wire just as it's coming out of the EHC? Not looking good for EHC. WP is looking better and better. I did see an EHC someone posted here on BDB for sale. If possible, I would bite the bullet and go WP. Screw all these electrical issues. To damn hard to chase down.

I would contact a service center or even BDM and find out if they use a monitoring voltage.

If I get a chance I'll go take mine apart and see what it reads...
