2004 Choper Won't fire after Wire-plus installation

I have a 2004 chopper and the ECH went out. First the Head light, Then the horn and finally the intermittent starting issue. Purchased the Wire Plus Retro Kit, Installed it and now it won't start at all. All of the other electrical work fine. I have fuel, but I have no spark. I did install the new ignition switch from wire plus. So I had to disconnect the coil and remove it so I could grind coil cover to fit the new ignition. I connect the wires going from the ignition to the coil and a single hot wire from the old wiring. I have tested this lead and it is hot when the key is in the on position. I was told that with this coil it doesn't matter which side they are connected to as long as each post has a connection. (Positive & Ground). anyway, The starter engages and the motor turnover but it will not start. Does anyone have any suggestion. Thanks

Do you have the stock thunderheart ignition module? Is that red light illuminating at all when you hit start? Make sure that you have power going to the ignition module when your key is in the start position and you hit "RUN" on your handlebars.

You should be able to hear the igntition module turn on if you listen carefully, its just a quick "click".

Had a simular problem when I put the wire plus in my bros 04...finally figured out it was the grounds...if memory serves there are several grounds that term together..(6-8?) i fixed it by running all the grounds in a crip barrel and filling it with solder...fire right up after that.

I'm not sure of the ignition, I bought the bike used and have never needed to know what ignition it had. How would I find out?

Not sure where they mounted the Thunderheart on the Chop but on my rigid as soon as you take off the seat it's sitting right there staring you in the face. It's got a picture of a heart with a sword through it and it should have one red LED light.

It should stay lit when the bike is running, however it should at least flicker when hitting the start button. If you got no light see if you have power going into the module.

As, the other guy said check your grounds make sure they are properly soldered and tight. There are a shit ton of them little black wires.

Turn on your ignition (key) and push the start button, don't push the run button it acts as a kill switch. See if that works!

There wasn't an ignition module under the seat where the ECH was located. All that was there was the ECH and a breaker. Do I need to have a ignition module for this conversion. I bought the bike used, I can see where the module may have originally been mounted. I understand that in some of the big dog ECH the ignition module was included in the ECH

I think your Ignition module is located on the Battery Box (back side) between Battery and rear fender.

It is an 04 so the ignition module may be or is in the nose cone

If you can't see it when you pull your seat off then Ray's right. Stock module must have been removed and now an aftermaret ignition resides in your nosecone.

Here is a WP Wiring Diagram. If everything else works except the bike turning over I would suggest the below:

1) Check your connection on the Power Module from Pin 6 to the Starter.
2) Also Plug 1, Pin 6 is your handlebar Run Switch.

:confused::confused::confused:

Is this true for the 04 Chopper? Never heard or seen that.
If it was switched out for an aftermarket ignition then most likely it would be in the nosecone. Most manufactors combine the sensor and ignition module in 1 single unit. A Dyna aftermarket is a nose cone unit!

Hi guys. I just installed on my 04 chopper new RIP KIT gen 1
The installation was perfect plug to plug
Head light works great high and low beam
Left signal light works
The tag light works
Brake light works
Horn works
But no sign of life for starter
Or sparks at the plugs even if I do bypass from the + to the starter direct!
No power coming to the module
I think that my control is fuckt up !
Just to mention all the parts are brand new from bigdog
All the connections are 100% ..... any advice?
