Concern about an open primary

I personally prefer the BDM closed primary. It is sleek and I like the extra chrome.

I also like to put my foot on it at times.

if ur a open belt fan always go with the bearing support system.
the negatives I have found with open belt drives have nothing to do with ur pant leg type safety issues.
- more jackshaft alignment issues. the bolt-on cover housing the jackshaft thrust bearing and sleeve are very temperamental as far as alignment when the starter engages or tries to engage the jackshaft gear and ring gear..
- open belt drives are noisy.
because there is no gear oil to keep the clutch plates from rattling and making noise, some a lot of noise.
taking a center punch and pinning every 7th or 8th tooth on the friction and steel clutch plates will shut em up some.. for awhile.

+1:up:

Mine has had the jackshaft alignment issue before. When I first got mine I was a little concerned (since I have kids) about fingers or something getting caught in there but with straight pipes the noise tends to keep inquiring onlookers away from the belt drive. When I put on some LED's I added a small light inside the belt drive to make it look even better at night too. Get lots of compliments on it and I love not having to worry about replacing gaskets and checking the oil level.:2thumbs:

Correct me if I am wrong but I dont see any bearing support on yours... just the flamed cover? it does not support anything by the looks of it... it is there just for show?

It does look awesome though... can you post a pic of the whole bike? I would like to see the paint on it

Correct, the cover is there basically for show. It does save your pants leg some tho. Here's a few pics, not the best but all I have on my computer here at work. Gotta love the yellow :) :
