EHC replacement

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the info. Nice bike !

Have anybody think about a plastic cover for the EHC with 3 closed walls and 1 wall with 2 gaps for the connectors? I have seen in the video that there is still a bit space between EHC and bike. A cover might not protect the EHC in every situation but it might help to increase the lifetime of the EHC as long as the water comes from the top side. I don´t know the cost for a moulding tool but a simple plastic cover like a blister what covers many products in the supermarket will cost below 1,- when the tool is paid. I´ll make a raw 3D drawing how it might look within the next days.

Any suggestions and ideas?

All the best!

Hi 05chop,

Yes, it´s not complicated but pls. give me a bit time. I still need to make a bit finetuning on the boards and the box and then I´ll think about how to implement it as additional board, cause there is still plenty of space in the box.

Kevin, is the potting compound between the 2 connectors already broken, or is it just dust or the ambience light?

All the best!

Hello all. My 2005 pitbull has been down for about 3 years now because of the ECH. I have a chance now to get a Big dog performance electrical retrofit kit part #173-000103-00.. Does anyone know, or know where I can find out if this particular kit will work on my bike?
It list it as working on a 2005/2006 N-chopper & Mastiff, 2007 Chopper, 2008 Mutt & 2009 Coyote. I know that most of the bike from this list have similar electrical systems, but not sure if any differences will cause a problem.

Thanks in advance for any input,
Shane

AXEL Potting material are you using epoxy? My past experience working on Caterpillar ECM Cat sent out factory tech to diagnosis failure of ECM on heavy equipment.Cat told us one cause heavy vibration and water damage later I found out they revised changing potting material to silicone. Maybe you can do some R AND D not sure if this important to you we found some Cat owners that wanted the revised version would use a paint shaker and a garden hose so they could get warranty and the updated version. Axel your the expert and all of us at BDB appreciate your hard work.

Hi 05chop,

Thanks for the useful info. The new 2k potting compound is much better compare to the first one. But parallel I´ll look to a silicone potting material. It might be a good alternative for the upper layer.

All the best!
