Super g carb jetting

Well you can easily change out the main jet by taking the bolt out of the bottom of the carb bowl(turn fuel off and crack the bolt, let the fuel drain out)A wide flat head will remove the jet, you can look up inside the bowl with the bronze bolt removed from the bottom and see the main jet there, it will have a size stamped on it, and you can replace with one size up or down and see what that does. If it runs worse you can always replace the original jet back, without any problems. The Main jet is a very easy change. Even for someone not familiar. The intermediate jet is different, that requires the bowl to be dropped. But if it's running fine around town and in the low rpm range I wouldn't mess with it. I've always needed to retune when I mess with the intermediate. hopefully someone that knows a little more about the carbs will chime in soon

The float needle was leaking a bit, so I took the carb (G shorty) on my 107 open for the first time. I was rather surprised to find 295 inter and 69 main jets! Those are basically meant for 74-88 ci engines! Funny but the plugs are just beautiful, bike runs well, no backfire . Go figure. Now I started thinking if I should mess things up by getting bigger jets hehehehe.

I run a 78 main jet, 32 idle and 3 turns out on the mixture screw, that's were it runs best for me, I tried turning it back a 1/4 turn but then it started sneezing/coughing so I went back to 3 turns out and it runs great.
Did this yesterday.
Worked for me. :D :old2::old2::old2:

Also checked float operation and accelerator pump and float while I had it apart.
Big shout out to Eric ( @Th3InfamousI nfamous ), and Frank ( @LamboV12 )... Awesome help guys !!!
Ker... That guide is good stuff man.

The jets some folks are running seem insane for a moderate compression motor. I had a 33 int and 76 main and was getting 22 mpg. Granted I also have a Thunderjet and the G carb was bored out by John Sachs. I now run 31, 74 and 80 on the Thunderjet. Now getting 34 mpg. It pulls like crazy and blows away even the new Harley 8 Ball motors. My plugs are cleaner than the one shown above but my heads temp levels are fine. I get some decel pop up to 1.5 out on the mixture screw, but when I richen things up and kill the decel pop, it does not run as well. I get some issues around 3k and I might try to fix it with the air bleed. BTW - 585 cam and Big Radius pipes. Not sure about my exhaust valves. I suspect they are the smaller EPA ones but not 100%b sure. All the work done by Curtis@Wild Steed Worx other than the carb done by John Sachs. I was a very unhappy camper for 6-8 months with many issues but things have settled down and I now have a lot of trust in the bike thanks to Curtis.

What issues are you getting? The only issue I get with running it the way I do is it freak'n halls ass! No backfire, no sneezing or coughing, no stumbling, nada! Just one hell of a fast bike! Personally I would rather be a little on the rich end of things than too lean, my plugs look great, not too rich at all. What you are running was what I had before I installed the 585 cam, it was way too lean and was poping and backfiring like crazy, as soon as I upped it to a 32 and 78 main it ran great, then I adjusted the carb and ended up approx. 3 turns out and holy crap what a difference! Pulls like a freight train all the way to the rev limiter!

I have a feeling the guy I bought it from didn't change the jetting when he put his hiflo filter on. But it ran fine. Then when I mine on the issue started. So I think that pushed it past the threshold of the jet that's in it. Sounds like it may be with the main jet. I do have a shop that everyone is telling me about this guy and he said jet and dyno tune for 250. Does that sound reasonable?
