I do not like the petcock on the 04 Mastiff. It labeled but does not have the positive stop position bearing to let you know you are fully in the on position or res. If a fuel filter can restrict flow then maybe a petcock not fully open can cause the same problem.
the one on mine is hard open, hard reserve, and a firm notch detent for off. no complaints here.

I'll add my 2 cents.... I'd take out the petcock and clean the screen and blow out the gas line. Also rinse your tank out while the petcock is out. I bet some of the tank protector came off and now is embedded in your fuel bowl. When you get going hard the pieces jam up the jets and that causes your problem. Take off the bowel and blow air through all the orfaces to clean it out. Good luck

best way to drain the tank is to put the petcock on off, remove the fuel line, replace with about a 3' piece of fuel line with the other end stuffed into a gas can, and open the petcock back up. don't forget to remove the gas cap to allow it to flow, even if it is vented. then it is best to remove the tank and finish draining off the bike. handle the tank with care.

I don't know where the petcock screen is but I looked at the petcock and the fuel line and there is no green anything or slimy or anything like that however inside the tank I can see the green and I can see some of that is peeled away I have a picture of that as well

.
If you see the tank liner peeling off is a big big NO NO. That is probably the main reason you are having fuel problems. Drain the tank and check it out. You may need to reline the tank or the problem will continue.

And turn the petcock to RESERVE to get the most gas out

Yes you can buy a new tank, never used, painted by Airbrush Ed former BDM employee that painted for them. I just happen to have a complete set of tins for a 2006 MASTIFF already painted, the Tank is lined and has never seen Gasoline. I have the Paint saver for it and a new Petcock and it lools like this.

I will post the rest following being that It won't take anymore picsIMG_0691.jpg IMG_0692.jpg IMG_0693.jpg IMG_0694.jpg IMG_0695.jpg IMG_0696.jpg IMG_0697.jpg IMG_0698.jpg IMG_0699.jpg IMG_0700.jpg

Here are more. That is the best I can offer. If you are interested make me an offer. BTW this paint job cost me $3400. I just never did install this on the bike YET.

Yet another update. I ordered a jet kit. Went to a 32 intermediate 70 main and runs good. Rode all over town tonight and no sputter. I got home and pulled the plugs. 1st cylinder was a lil on the fat side. Light soot. 2nd was still on the lean side. Is there something I missed. Making them the same burn? I'll post pics tomorrow. May be easier to help.

A 70 main jet? That's way lean if you ask me, I think stock is a 74 and if you have a bigger cam it gets bigger from there, I am running a 32 int and 78 main and it runs great, #2 cylinder runs hotter that #1 due to less air flow.

There was a 66 in when I pulled it out. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'm at 5500' I'm wondering if I should go down to a 31 since the front plug does have some soot.

The front cylinder is always going to run a little richer because is it runs cooler than the back one since it get all the air. Yes elevation make a big difference If it runs good stay with what you have stay with it.

So that doesn't look too rich on the first one?i would be worried about the back cylinder getting lean again.

So I tried the 31 instead of the 32. Plugs look a lil closer to each other. No soot. Maybe a touch lean. However the bike isn't running as well. But bouncing between the 2 jets and dropping the bowl 3 or 4 times I went from 130 miles before reserve to 93. Could I really have lost that much due dropping the bow? Or is it gonna start getting shitty mileage? As far as how it's running. Should have listened and left it alone. Lol. So I know what my next course of action is.

Went back up to a 32. Runs great cruising and mid throttle to about 3000-3500 then seems to fall a lil flat. No spittering just loses torque. Should I play with the main or air bleed next?
