I have a 2010 Big Dog bagger all original no modifications. I put a new battery on it and it doesn’t want to start. When I go to start it all the gauges work turn signals except when I press the run button I don’t hear the fuel pump. I hear the front relay on the right side of the motorcycle shutter, it will not try to crank. I tried to switch the relays from front to back and still doe’s the same thing. Can someone offer some advice on what to check next… also the gauge will say hi rpm while front relay shutters. Thank you

First thing make sure the new battery is good. I know that sounds crazy but it could have a bad cell. Have a load test done. What’s lighting up on the EHC?

OK I have a 2009 bigdog bagger and the batteries in these things will drain down in a matter of two weeks if not on a charger or cranked. Now when I turn my key to the on position, then hit the run button you should here the fuel pump prime, then hit the start button and fires right up. if you don't then you have an issue because the bike won't start till that pump primes. I know there is a fuse or relay that controls it, you could call Erik at HDM and tell him what you've got and maybe he can point you in the right direction.

I had a very similar problem, battery was good, bike would crank but wouldn't start. I couldn't hear my fuel pump either. The problem was the fuel controller (that's not the correct name, I can't think of name now.) That solved my issue, the new one is programable which is a better option if you want to add a cam, etc. you should call Curtis, he may be able to bench test yours.

VFI I think is what you are referring to.

Welcome from NJ,

This is a troubleshooting guide. On the first page are instructions to Reset the ECU sensors. Give it a shot.

I'm working on having a company make molds for both bags and lids. right now I'm slowing trying to get the money saved up to do all at once. Once I have the molds it will cost $1,000 to have a set of bags and lids plus shipping, my cost. I am toying with the idea of having the bags made about an inch or 2 wider and 1 inch deeper. I now have a set of spare bags to send off to the company to copy and make the adjustments to the width and depth or just copy what we already have.
