Installed a spike filter on my 08 k-9. Idles fine just cuts out when I give full throttle in lower gears. Wondering if that is a jetting or accelerator pump adjustment.
Did you remove the auxiliary vent plug?Installed a spike filter on my 08 k-9. Idles fine just cuts out when I give full throttle in lower gears. Wondering if that is a jetting or accelerator pump adjustment.
Start with the basic adjustments and then if you can't get it dialed in look into changing the jets which is a little more involved. If your only issue is what you described the accelerator pump adj is a likely suspect. In this guide step # 11 refers to what mleach72 is asking.Installed a spike filter on my 08 k-9. Yup! Must Do.My experience with the Spike before I sold it and went with a dual runner was frustrating. Never could get it dialed in perfect, I put in a #60 on the air bleed jet and had to point the spike straight up to get it to stop cutting out on accel, spent a lot of time trying to tune it and was never happy so I went with the dual runner and never had a problem. I know some don't have problems with them, just my experience.
If the S&S teardrop air cleaner is being replaced with an aftermarket air cleaner, be sure to remove the auxiliary bowl vent screw (#14). (as stated in the tuning guide posted by Mikeinjersey)Did you remove the auxiliary vent plug?
A couple guys have installed those type of ac's. I think @Mastiff Rider64 was one. They are meant for harley carbs and efi, so you need an adapter plate. One guy drilled the backing plate to make it work. I forget who that was.I have a fuel injected bike was wondering if anybody has used the trask high flow air filter. It's the one that you can see through it and it's round.

Yep I have one and it's great once you replace the paper filter with a K&N filter.A couple guys have installed those type of ac's. I think @Mastiff Rider64 was one.
