Wow they must be making them cheaper these days.
Oh damn! That sure is bent…I can‘t believe this solid rod bent within seconds of slowly dropping the weight of the bike onto to safety rod. I saw a YouTube video in which the biker posted a video, it showed a HF table lift with it’s safety bar bent in a u shape and his lift frame rails were bent outward, he said he left his bike in the highest position overnight and in the morning found his bike still upright but the platform was completely collapsed morning and the bar was completely bent in a u shape. I felt the heft of the rod and thought there was no way that happened, now I believe it because I watched it with my own eyes. That is not an optical illusion it is actually bent, after removing the rod I tried to roll it on the end without the loop and it was obviously bent was not like that just seconds before WTF? Has anyone else on this forum experienced this with their safety Rod and their harbor freight lift? View attachment 104584
I was shocked, and the fact that it happened so fast, I need to find a hardened steel rod to replace that I don’t trust it nowOh damn! That sure is bent…
It was still easy to get out but it was definitely bent.Mine will bow a small amount but never actually bends. Its always easy in and out. Must be shitty processing. Everybody cutting corners nowdays.
I guess soWow they must be making them cheaper these days.
Increase the price to $599 and decreased quality that seems to be the going rate today.I guess so
And that’s the way it should be, but until I get a hardened steel rod to put in there my bike will never stay up while I’m not actively working on it.I use to let my victory vision sit in it for days at a time, I've even been on the bike on the lift and never bent that rod, damn!
You might give your local welder a call or drop by and show him. He might have something or he can add it to his regular order with his supplier. I Have been eye balling that 3/4 inch, 36 inch ICON Breaker Bar from HF but I don't know the Chinese strength definition of Chrome Vanadium Steel.Anyone have a .900 hardened steel shaft that is about 18" to 20" in length, that they would be willing to sell, without costing an arm and a leg?
I got one from the local welding shop 24" long for $15. If it wouldnt cost so much to ship I would pick you up one. Try ebay it should not cost much for one. Edit I have a 1" diameter 24" long piece of cold rolled steel bar. If you want it for $15 plus shipping I will send it to you. I have a couple of request out on eBay for people selling steel shafts, I have not tried a welding shop I’ll try that next. Thanks for the offer I should be able to get something either off of eBay or like you suggested the welding shop.I got one from the local welding shop 24" long for $15.
