Sweet! It's going to be a nice contribution!Yea, I took tons of pics of the install. I'll be posting a complete how to on the Bandit Superclutch install, including the Carrier, within the next 24 hours.
Bike is all done and back together. Clutch works great, nice soft pull and feels great.
Watch for the how to sunday sometime.
Dude thats like the fourth (trans/clutch) problem in Florida alone in two months WTF?Well, my buddy that I ride with was out riding a last week and the clutch began to act up. The other night I went over and pulled the chain tensioner cover and sure enough, the Clutch carrier is blown apart.
His bike is a 2005 chopper with 7000 miles on it and this just broke.
He contacted BDM and the will only cover the broken part and no labor.
A month ago, BDM called me and offered to replace the whole setup and labor and I turned them down to put the Bandit kit in.
So, I have a feeling BDM is getting a bit strict on their recall/problem stuff and not doing the service that they should becase times are a bit tough in the sales department.
I just thought that was shitty that they offered me full replacement and wouldn't do his.
So guys, if your bike is creeping in gear with the clutch in, pull that inspection cover and see if you have a shit load of aluminum shavings in the primary and fluid. You better get it taken care of before you have problems.
Mine was broke probably for 500-1000 miles before it really showed up, but after finding what it was, I know that is what my problem was for a long time and didn't know it.
These bad ones are only on early 2005 models and on nothing 2006 and newer.
I have a spare carrier and a spare clutch thanks to Gasman!! Hope I dont need it. Put about 400+ miles on the trans last week and all is good so far:2thumbs:Yep, those 2005 Baker carriers are dropping like flies in a Michigan winter!!!
2005 Bulldog... You better check itprobably be me next - I changed the primary fluid on the weekend (put screaming eagle oil in there cus I think the Amsoil extreme was causing the plates to stick when it was cold) and there was a couple of decent sized shavings on the plug - why I didn't drop the primary cover and take a look I don't know
I'm gonna take a look soon - I did have a look when I put the Amsoil thing and couldn't see anything - the plates only seem to stick for the first gear shift after starting - once I'm off and running its ok - thought I solved it with the new pushrod but we'll see how it goes2005 Bulldog... You better check it
That sticking plate thing is probably the result of the carrier being broke and the clutch not being able to fully disengage. That is how mine started, then after about 500 or so miles it started making a very slight squeeking and then led to a knocking noise like a loose chain.
