for anyone that has changed to metzler any issues? comments? like ? dislike? i need a new set,,curious before i buy,,

i'm on my 2nd cobra now,no seperation issues but wet traction sucks compared to the venom and i was getting about 12k each out of the venoms. i got 8k on the 1st cobra and it looks like the one i have now is only gonna make it 8k if im lucky. 300 tire. i may go with a metzler next, didnt they rub the belt though?
The Metzler I have on my K9 has about the same distance between the belt and tire as the Cobra, maybe a little closer but does not rub. I've only put a couple hundred miles on the Metzler, but so far its been good.

Its really unfortunate that Avon isnt taking this more seriously. I went from Metzler back to Avon, albeit the Metzlers I bought were from several years ago and they have since changed their design, and have not had any cracking issues but I am noticing that the wear seems to be faster on the new set.
I did not like the look of the Metzler at all on my K9.

He has the 04, so a 250 rear.

Dunlop makes a 250 as their biggest tire. I like the tread pattern and was considering the dunlop as well on my 04.
was thinking the early RB had a 300 on it. my mistake. looked it up and verified 250. :2thumbs:

A bit over a year ago, I did some trading to a local dealer for a new Venom front tire he had just gotten in but customer didn't come and get it. I got the tire, mounted it up and within weeks the sidewall cracked just like your tire pictured above.

After taking it back to him, we looked up the manufacture date stamp on it and it was over 2 years prior to the install.

I installed Cobras on front and rear and very happy with them since. They are sticky, hook up very well, show no signs of wear yet and are great in the wet.

Those sidewall cracks are usually signs of a OLD dated tire that layed around in a warehouse.

My buddy had a Ironhorse for 3 years and went through 4 sets of Metzlers in under 10,000 miles.
No burnouts, just VERY poor wear patterns.

These are good things to hear!
i have a brand new set of Cobras goin on next weeknd. the rear tire is a warranty replacement due to seperation (Cobra). My 2 previous sets of metzlers wore crazy and i went thru 2 front and 3 rears in 10,000 miles.
i was disappointed w that Cobra seperating cause it was NOT wearing unevenly like the Metzlers but Im told the more recent manufactured Avons should be ok.. Im hoping for the best

The tires that Bohunter has pictures of are my bike. Avon wasn't even going to do anything about the tires until threats of BBB and I said I would take them to all the bike rallys that I could ride to to show the tires to everone. Only then did they seem to feel maybe that there was a defect and I got new tires. That is not the quality of tires or customer service that I expected from Avon, I am done with them.

My 2 cents is I have had both on my bike at least the 250 rear and really do prefer the venom over the cobra. I am probably looking to change out tires within this year and will start looking at other tires. bottom line BRING BACK THE VENOM..

Got an idea since they probably wont bother checking out this "little site" have our 1 percent unsatisfied users post their dislikes print this out and fax them our responses if that doesn't get their attention "THEY ARE BLIND" and IGNORANT and may find themselves in our current economy looking for new employment!

This is where the Avon Cobra 300 is mounted now.

Does it require much water:roll:

Bought 2 New Avon Menom's from Vince here on the forum since I was warned about the cracking & bubbling forum from reading It Here.
I still have an Avon Cobra 300mm that I am gonna use as a tire swing now.

Just checked out the nhtsa website. Metzeler has quite a few complaints as well. Very troubling...
