Letter to Avon Tires

The Take Home

Avon needs to recognize that this sight represent over 7,000 members, many of which ride fat tire bikes. We represent a likely greater number than 1% of the customers in the market to purchase their 300 sized product and collectively we are saying fix the problems and treat us right and you will have loyal customers. Continue to produce substandard products and we will spend the money elsewhere. Good luck finding a better organized collective of bikers rolling on 300s.

For me, the response by the company will dictate my buying habits for a life time.

Get an attorney involved and I bet it gets their attention especially if an injury or worse occurred.

Two years old is not acceptable to separate.
I have built cars that took longer than that to finish. I have never had a problem with a two year old tire separating in the auto industry.....ever......

Im in agreement here. I actually have the stock venoms on my 04 still so going on 8 years. Not a CRACK. I bought the bike this past May with only 3600 on them so I assume they are the originals plenty of tread still left too! :whoop:

I know my dad has the same tires on one of his hogs as when he bought it 15 years ago. Needless to say he doesn't get out that much:D Its starting to weather at this point, but nothing like the pic.

2 years or even 3 year old tires should not crack like that unless they were kept in a oven. :spank: Hell my bike is in Texas in a garage thats about as close your going to get to an oven.

i still have the stock venoms on my 05 pitbull 3500 miles and it looks like i can see a seam separating across the rear tire so i was going to buy new ones. i am shocked to hear they dont make them anymore, and now am wondering what i should get.
and if i were to purchase the new style, how could i be sure to get a newer manufacturing dated tire?

Just google tire date code.

4 number code imprinted on the sidewall. first 2 digits= wk of manufacture and last 2 digits = year of manufacture. ie, 3610 is 36th week of 2010.

America Motorcycle Tire has the Metzler 300 for $284.79 and free shipping. Might be trying the Metzlers next time, since it looks like more people have had trouble with the Avons
