If it means anything - If I were you I'd hold on to the WirePlus. I to have an 04 Pitbull and went through the same kind of shit you were going through.

Nothing worse then having to think that you solved a problem then the major one comes round the corner. If it's something that isn't going to set you back a nice chunk of change that you need I say keep it. If you need your cash or don't want it all then it's your decision but chances are that if it ever happens to you where you're going to need the W-P Jake may not have it in stock then you'll have to wait that much longer to get the bike out for the cruises.

Glad you found the problem. My 04 Chopper needed a cam sensor as well, after I did the WP. NOTHING pisses me off like thinking I've fixed a problem, only to have it crop up once more. I agree with everyone who've said to keep the WP, sounds like you may need it.

The Thunderheart EHC can be sent to Thunderheart in Tenn. to be benched checked. The charge was $12.50. They said mine was good. My problem was from changing the handlebars 4 times bc they were hitting the gas tank. The bike was under warranty so I let them do it, big mistake. The mechanic yanked and pulled the wires through the handlebars to where the connections got exposed,broken,etc. causing shorts and grounds. I rode the bike for a couple of years with electrical problems popping up before the root problem was found. I do believe as many people state the dealerships ARE a big problem. To truely find a trained, honest, experienced shop is rare. I do all my own work now and has led me to have confidence in my bike. Put it this way, if something goes wrong I can most probably say what it is bc I did it.

There is a how to somewhere. However, here is a condensed version if you have a BD sensor (plug and play)

1 - Remove cone cover
2 - Open up wire harness and unplug CS.
3 - IMPORTANT - the CS are one piece plate and sensor for your 04. You need to make a mark (scribe a line, centerpunch, etc) next to some defining feature of your CS plate into the nose cone because your installing a brand new plate. (this is to keep you timed the same as before. So you hopefully won't have to retime your bike)
4 - The notch in the plate is a good reference point.
5 - cut plastic ties, pull wire through hole and reverse with the new plate. Line up mark to new notch. tighten BUT not too tight!!!
6 - Use dielectric grease on plug and reinstall harness cover and plastic ties.
DONE

Is it plastic? If so you will just have the same problem. You should ask from those that have had this issue already what they went with as I can't remember the name.

the sensor I have is a HD version not a pin connection deciding if I want to go the splice method or wait for the stock sensor. well I decided to put it down for tonight vision is getting blurry and will wait for the plug in connection. Ray found out yesterday I picked up E-8 right after the bike broke down how is that for good news at a bad time?

Hey Joe how is that break going LOL... yeah I am still here this bike sucks,, I am working on my take it apart and lets see what happens this time phase. think when I get out of the Military I am going to go to a motorcycle repair school but by that time after dealing with this bike i should be able to teach the course... reliable bike yeah right

Eric, understand about how busy things can be.. man I love this bike and I really have learned alot about the dogs it is a shame such a beautiful bike but so many problems sometimes I wish I would have just bought a HD but that would be too easy and too normal right.. the dogs in the kennel right now someday soon this bike is going to be setup with the wire plus and a new sensor.. Funny story guys brought the bike to work last week and it quit on me again!!! well the boys in the shop decided to mess with me and took a picture and put in on craigslist for 5,000 the phone was ringing off the hook LOL

I spliced in an HD sensor, it's three wires and the colors even match.

Really pretty easy.

Matt the splicing is not a problem looking 2 wires are the same and it could be done by tomorrow. thinking I like the 3 pin connectors on the bike makes things easier to swap
