ok new carb and Ultima single fire ignition setup couple questions
when static timing I get the T:F in the little window but to get the led to come on its turned so much I can't get the bolts in so I set it approx. where the last one was and started right up let it warm up a few mins and took off very little power at all if I rolled into it hard lines out and took off like a bar outta hell.
is my timing close and jets off I have the 31&78 setup on the jets
shit can't remember if I took out the aux. plug in carb would that make that big if difference at low speed sounds like shit and hardly any power till I hammer the throttle any suggestions
will pull bowl and make sure on the vent plug
thanks Mike

Mike, I finally got a chance to get her out and ride it this weekend. I ended up with a 33 intermediate and 78 main. I got most of the pop out of the decel. To be honest the only way to know for sure ifs its right would be to dyno it.

Mike,
Just wondering... did you sort it out at the end?

Hey guys, sorry to dig up old thread. I am having similar issues at 70+ mph. Have the spike air cleaner and shorty exhaust with no baffles. I recently replaced the ignition coil but problem is still there.

At 70+ mph I get a dead spot where I have to add more throttle or it will begin to slow down and not maintain speed. So I’m thinking I’m getting too much air and it’s going lean at that rpm/ speed. I have the super G on my 04 ridge (107). Do I just remove or try to get a bigger main air bleed? No issues doing start and stop, and normal ride until I hit around 65 to 70 mph.

On my 04 Pit I turned my spike vertical. Smoothed it out a bunch. My hiccup is because of a drilled air bleed. Older G carbs had them. Newer versions have the changable air bleed screws. You can have the older ones drilled out and tapped to fix them. Jmo

Thanks I wasn’t aware of this. If anyone can shed some light on this that would be great. Anyone drilled and tapped their older G carb bleeder?

What year bike? Your username states 117 so if you have 04 and later that airbleed can be changed no need to drill but also make sure you've removed the vent plug first before you change air bleed.

Go to S&S website they have all the documents on it and diagrams for the G Carb

No its a 107. 2004 bigdog ridge. Super G. The vent plug was removed last fall. Did help with a coughing issue. Runs like a champ til all the extra air is coming in at around 70 mph. If I stay below that its fine. But what’s the fun in that ?

From what I’m reading, with the spike air cleaner and short pipes with no baffles, s&s recommends a .48 bleeder jet. Anyone know who sells this jet? I can’t find them.

Never had a problem on my 06 pitbull single spike mounted horizontal jetted .32 int .78 main ran perfect no issues on my 07 K9 wimmer dual spike .33 int .78 main xxx carb, no need to run the spike verticle as long as it's tuned properly

I’ve tuned it 100 times. I think i have 31 and .70. Can’t remeber for sure. I’m gonna try the .48 vent and see how it goes. I’ll let u know how it does and what jets I have. Til then I’ll stay at 65 or less lol

On your bikes, did you have drag pipes or short pipes and no baffles? They are saying the lack of backpressure is the biggest issue.

If you are running a .70 main jet you are lean at the top end. Have you looked at your plugs. I would jump to a .76 or .78 main. Post a pic of your plugs.

I haven’t checked them while running the bike while holding the throttle during the issue. I can’t remember the jet size. I’ll have to take the bowl back off. Could be bigger than a .70. I can hold the rpms in any gear at 3000 and no problem just when I’m at 70 mph where I’m getting the extra air.

I’ll do a run on my next ride and kill the bike at that speed and pop the plugs out and see if they’re lean or rich. And post pics.

The last time I checked my plugs was when i was having a coil issue. The back cylinder was black as the ace of spades. Front was normal looking.

If your running the dual runner then .33 int and .78 main if single spike intake .32 int and .78 main those are the magic numbers, also make sure your Bowl vent plug is out

Supposedly 04+ bikes have a .40 jet. Mine is 04 and is drilled. What size bit and tap do I need to make the jet fit in there ?

It does have a .70 main and .31 int so I’ll be going to .78 and .32. Next time I take the the bowl off intend to also drill and tap to a .48 air bleeder.

Unless you have a Bridgeport, I wouldnt recommend doing the job on the garage bench, but thats just me. S&S can fix it correctly, or one of their dealers perhaps?
