Removed Restrictors and got XXX'd!

I stayed with the Super E XXX because I didn't want to fork out more money for the G manifold, and because from what I have been told, the G only gets you high rpm performance over the E. The E will give you more low to mid range, and is a better choice for a daily driven bike under 100mph. I was more concerned with milage and around town performance.

Im with npb4me...I love the difference it made on my bike by going with the XXX "E" carb...tons of good usable power, and lots of snap to the throttle. Not having to buy another manifold was just a plus!

the E has a smaller venturi than the G so although it will not flow as much air the velocity of the air will be faster - result is better response at lower rpm's but not as much top end power - I have the xxx G though and have no complaints. I have read that the booster jet may hinder performance rather than enhance it because it possibly gets in the way of the air flow. I'm probably going to get the psi at the end of the year - best of both worlds from what I can tell.

Either way, the XXX (E or G) is better then stock, and I hear good stuff about the PSI once you get it tuned.

I went from a nice cruiser with the stock setup, to spinning the tire through 3rd gear shifts with the XXX E carb and the restrictors removed. I am at 5500 feet, so I figure I am losing about 15% power over sea level. I will let you know what the dyno results are.

So are there gaskets along with the restricter plates? I went to the dealer today and the parts guy had no clue ... even after checking out the catalog.
???? So I went to the service department and they had no clue ... ????
I get more information from this site than the dealer ... maybe those guys were overwelmed because it's bike week here in Arizona ... tons of bikes on the road .. nice bikes ... got 43mpg doing 75mph ... then got 51mpg doing 70mph ... it was a great day for riding ... what day isn't??? None

Thanks ... keep on Ridin'

Here print this photo out for them and tell them they are idiots!!!

Here are the two spacer plates, the left side on is on top of the restictor plate. You have to peel the gaskets off the old plates and use them on the newer ones.
Or just bore your plates out.
Again, if my old ones I will send them to you cause there is no reason what so ever that you will EVER want to go back to them.

Later,
Ray

Dude...
Pick another dealer. These guys obviously do not know your Dog. Find someone to work on it and help you who DOES!

they look trick too if you for chrome - also the longer screws make changing jets a hell of a lot easier

It makes a difference everywhere. My bike is smoother, quicker, and louder!

One minute I need spacers, the next I don't. Does anyone really know on the Ridgeback 05? Was starting to yank them tonight but couldn't access the allen bolt without a 1/4 allen socket.

YES YES YES. If you remove the restrictor plates, you need the spacers to but back in to make sure the alignment is correct. I know the restrictors are not very thick, but you need the spacers. If you do no put the spacers in, the manifold will sit a little more inward, and it will not properly align to each cyclinder. I know some people pull the restritors, and do not put any type of spacer back in. They usually get leaks where the manifold bolts up to each cyclinder. I put spacers back in because the bike was designed that way. Just to be safe, put the spacers back in. All the spacer is, is the restrictor with a larger hole, thus not restricting any air flow.

I used my restrictors. I machined the hole to be about 1.75 diameter. As long as it is not smaller then the hole in the manifold, or the cyclinder, it will not restrict any air flow.
