Hi,
...just the news: We changed the appintment today and when I arrived in the workshop I was not be able to stop a big smile in my face for some time
I attach 2 (lousy) cellphone photos of the shop. Cool shop and a cool and very friendly owner !!!
However, we have tested the box in a 2007 carbureted model and (almost) everything works nice. The temperature of the board was somewhere below 45 degree what is far below of that what I expected. Even the starter was not be able to heat the board. We simulated a bad starting engine by closing the gas valve but was no significant temperature lift on the board even after more than 10 seconds pushing the start button
. This was my biggest worry before but the implemented high side switches made a pretty good job.
So, now to the "almost": I had double checked the layout before I ordered the first sample boards. We found out today that I changed the rear right and left turn lamps. So, a push on the right button switches on the right front turn lamp and the left rear turn lamp. This might follow in some cases to "funny" situations but was unwanted :-/ I could kick my own as... This was my "double check".
So, I´ll correct my stupid mistake within the next days and will order new boards next week. So, the first devices might be available in about 4 weeks, when I solved the last mechanical challenges.
Scott, I got a schematic of a 2008 EFI model from the shop owner and compared the wiring with the carbureted model. The wiring in the EHC is almost the same. There are a few additional bridges between the 2 connectors for the speedometer and an additional + 12 V Line. So, I think, it would be possible to make the same EHC replacement for both models. I´ll put the bridges in the next model and will test it soon.
Any ideas, how I call my "baby" ? Just "EHC replacement" is a bit boaring.
All the best!
