Does anybody know what is the correct way to check what the voltage regulator is sending to the battery do I just put my voltmeter on the 40 amp breaker and test it that way or is there a better way

Willy,
All you really need to do is read across your battery while it's running. I use a product from Battery Tender that plugs into my quick disconnect. It's great cause you can take a quick read while riding to make sure your charging. It has lights and a digital readout. I highly recommend it. Hopefully the link will bring you to it. If not just look it up.

I have an 07 K9 Carbed. I looked into getting the software a few years back and I'm pretty sure I couldn't get it to work because it required Windows XP and my laptop was past that. Double check the software requirements.

Some gas caps are vented and some are not vented. My gas cap on the underside had a small white colored octogen shape piece of plastic. I unscrewed it, left it off and put the gas cap back on the tank. Just go out and ride for about the same time you did before and hopefully everything goes okay. When filling your tank don't fill it all the way. If this works you could try a non vented gas cap or just never fill the tank all the way. I never fill mine all the way so I don't take a chance of any leaking on my tank. Good Luck my friend.
Sorry tree man, you're right on everything except for the fact that the cap does need to be vented or it will vapor lock the tank. The only caps that are not vented is the left one on the dual tanks.

I had like 14.04 to 14.11 and it stayed there pretty steady
Perfect. Remember, highly charged, 14.1 say. Needs a charge, but you're riding it at 14.4+, it's sending in what the battery calls for is a balance back to 14.1 say.

Thank you for the information. I will replace my defective fuel cap with a new vented cap.
If your cap had the white insert, it is a vented cap. The white thing was someone's bright idea that didn't work. The new caps don't come with it.
Put your cap up to your lips and blow through it.

Leaving off the white plastic, I blew through the cap and a little air came out one of the three hole on the underside. Is the cap good to use without the little white plastic? Should I buy a new vented cap?
The little white piece has been a problem in the past. Thats why the new ones don't come with it.

This is what my gas cap looks like on the bike, and underneath the cap pics. Didn't really see anything white is this a new cap or an old cap

Do you remember if your bike was running or just the key on, did you plug in the system first from computer to s&s tuner and then turn the key on and then start it what was the process

You just turn on the key with pro tune hooked up it will read the codes if there’s any if pro tune not working it’s most likely same as my problem the driver need to be unzipped
